A Church Committed to Mission
As followers of Jesus, we care for the poor and needy. Redeemer's mission focus begins in Indianola and extends worldwide. Our dream is to have all members involved in mission. If you are not yet involved, check out these opportunities.

Adult and Family Fellowship
This task force sponsors potlucks periodically, new member receptions, serves luncheons after funerals, provides cookies/bars before the annual meeting, and organizes other food and fellowship events as called upon.
The Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is a group of persons willing to take a few minutes in the privacy of their home or office to pray when called upon for a specific purpose and person. This chain may be used by anyone requesting prayers; for sick, injured, dying, thanksgiving, etc. for relatives, friends, known or unknown to the people on the prayer chain.

Indianola
Ongoing Indianola ministries include Helping Hand, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and Operation Christmas. Many Redeemer members regularly volunteer: you may see them sorting, assisting clients, or doing laundry at Helping Hand; They may be delivering meals to homebound folks; you may see them building or working on landscaping at the current Habitat home being constructed; you may see them shopping for a Christmas present for a needy child.
Des Moines
Redeemer also reaches out to needy folks at the 700 Grand Meal Site in Des Moines by providing food, supplying volunteers, and preparing lunches. On the first Tuesday of each month, volunteers serve evening meals.
United States
Participation in the Appalacian Service Project has been significant. In July 2008, 28 youths and adults spent a week in Beckley, West Virginia, working to improve living conditions and ministering to people in need. The entire congregation provided financial support for this project. In July 2009, 25 youth and adults spent a week in Iowa City helping in flood relief efforts.
Beyond
Redeemer quilters send dozens of quilts to Lutheran World Relief for delivery to needy folks throughout the world. Also, global mission projects are undertaken each year, the most recent being to support a school in Guatemala and to dig a well in Tanzania. Some members have been especially active in mission work in Africa.
